“Susan is the rare trainer who excels at training at all levels, from the person who has never exercised to elite athletes. She pushed clients to be the strongest, fittest, best they can be without all that ridiculous screaming you'll see other trainers do."

ABOUT SUSAN
If you saw me in 2001 – completely inactive, morally discouraged, on disability from crippling tendonitis in both arms – you wouldn’t believe I’ve been motivating thousands of people to change their lives in big and small ways. I graduated from UC Berkeley thinking I was going to be an academic.
My injury made me realize that I needed to do something different with my mind and body. I didn’t know what that was going to look like. I used to think running was stupid. But I desperately needed to make a change. In 2001, two trainers at the Berkeley YMCA helped me run my first mile. It was kind of a pathetic mile – it took forever and I cried the whole time – but I built momentum and created a new life for myself. In 2003, I became a certified personal trainer and worked for many years at the YMCA that first inspired me. I also led outdoor workouts on Saturday mornings in the hope that I would build an independent training business. I left the Y after 8 years, with a passion for providing workouts to people in and around my home in West Oakland. Urban Agility moved into the amazing space on Adeline and 30th in 2014. I’m so grateful for the people who’ve believed in the work we do together and for the community we’ve created. I am married and have two beautiful kids who keep everything interesting. I love music of all kinds. I’m devoted to my family, my friends, my clients and the belief that we can help each other change the trajectory of our lives. My strength is helping people feel comfortable. If you're interested in learning more about my fitness journey or partnering with me on your own, stop by the studio or shoot me an email.
